Designer in Residence
London architecture firm and design gallery Matter of Stuff have announced the inaugural MOS designer residency. Recognizing the talent of exceptional designers, the initiative creates an opportunity for six creatives to work with marble and metal in Tuscany, between April 18 and May 16 this spring. The prize will also include an exhibition of the final prototypes during Montalcino Design Festival.
Proud to be selected for the MATTER OF STUFF Designer Residency
Following an international open call for entries, MOS Designer Residencies Competition, Matter of Stuff has selected 6 Designer/ Design Studios from a total of 130 submitted entries that will participate in a Residecy in Montalcino, Tuscany at the OCRA facilities.
The residency will take place in the beautiful medieval city of Montalcino in Tuscany between 18 April and 16 May 2016 where the winning designers will work with Toscari for metalwork and Carrara Design Factory for marble to bring their ideas to life. The craftspeople who have honed their skill through years of studying traditional techniques while incorporating new technologies and the designers will work together to create a core collection of six design pieces – three in marble and three in metal.
The jury has selected the six following candidates: Alessandro Zambelli (research on metalwork); Studio UUfie (research on metalwork); Tim Vanlier (research on metalwork); Nina Cho (research on marble); Olga Bielawska (research on marble); Tomas Libertiny (research on marble).
The Veiled Collection was developed during the designer residency taking place in Montalcino and Carrara.
